Hall of Fame inductions are designed to honor outstanding individuals who have played a key role in the development and nurturing of the electrical industry and who have played a creative role in Chicagoland. This award recognizes individuals whose innovation, hard work, dedication, and vision have fostered industrial growth and social progress.
Ms. Ryan has been working in the electrical industry for many years, and in that time she has made a tremendous impact on the way the electrical industry has evolved.
She is a licensed Professional Engineer with a BSEE from IIT and has worked with many firms, including the largest and smallest of companies. Her Projects have also ranged from small electrical upgrades to major multi-discipline mega dollar projects in the Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Transportation and Utility industries.
Ms. Ryan understands all sides of the contractor/engineer/construction relationship by having worked with both design-bid-build and design-build procurement methodologies for owners, engineers and contractors. She is also a member of a tight-knit family consisting of many generations of electricians, contractors, inspectors, and engineering personnel.
Her professional contributions are not limited to engineering design and construction services, but she has contributed selflessly by volunteering in the professional/educational organizations that make this industry successful and progressive.
She was recruited for and served on the Code Re-Write committee for the City of Chicago Electrical Code in 2000, the first update of the Chicago Electrical Code in many decades (the other participants read as a who’s-who of the Chicago electric industry). She has long served on numerous committees and as an officer in positions on many professional societies including the the Consulting Electrical Engineers of the Electrical Association (CEE-EA) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers-Industrial Applications Society (IEEE-IAS) throughout her career. She has also been involved as an active participant in meetings of the AWWA, ISA, ISPE, WEF and many others. Her publications, presentations and papers at National and local seminars have drawn rave reviews.
Ms. Ryan’s services are not limited to Professional Services as she has contributed to Society as a whole. She has been actively involved in the local government and has been a role model for children of her church and school through coaching both girls and boys sports for many years. She has invested a great deal of time and effort and as a result is regularly sought out for consultation as to the operations of the organizations.
